Madison McBride, a senior in high school, has spent her teenage years participating annually in the Philadelphia MYWIC camp which promotes young women in construction. Jamie McMillan Circle Headshot

Jamie McMillan | Founder, KickAss | Careers

Jamie McMillan is renowned for her roles as a motivational speaker, ironworker, apprentice boilermaker, outreach specialist, author, and visionary. She is the founder and primary spokesperson for KickAss Careers, an initiative that advocates for skilled trades, technology, mental health, homelessness, and youth support.

She began her career as an ironworker in 2002, when women comprised only 2% of the workforce in the field. Jamie has been a pioneering force in challenging the gender stereotypes and misconceptions prevalent in male-dominated industries.

Jamie’s impactful work has earned her multiple accolades, including the Top 20 Under 40 Award for making an impact in the metal trades, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program Champion Award, and the District School Board of Niagara Technology Education Partnership Award.

In 2019, she was appointed co-chair of a National Skilled Trades Advisory Committee by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, to promote skilled trades careers among youth. Her audiences exceed 50,000 students, parents, educators, and employers annually, benefiting from her insights into the lucrative opportunities in skilled trades and technology sectors.

In her free time, Jamie loves to travel, climb mountains, and hike with her tuxedo cat, ‘Spud Wrench.’

Abby Gustaitis is a U.S. Olympic Rugby Athlete who captained her Team USA squad in Tokyo during the 2020 Olympic Games. After graduating from the University of Maryland, she turned down a path to medical school to pursue her rugby career full-time and train with the U.S. national team. She continues to play and commentate for domestic and international rugby competitions and is a coach for the U.S. Naval Academy’s women’s rugby team.

Rugby is often regarded as a leading sport in promoting gender equality due to its inclusive culture of inclusivity and respect. Women’s rugby is growing rapidly, with many countries investing in developing women’s teams and leagues, including Premier Rugby Sevens in the U.S., a league with men’s and women’s teams where Abby has participated as an athlete and broadcaster.
